On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the naming ceremony for two newly built bulk carriers, constructed on behalf of W MARINE, took place at Chengxi Shipyard in China.
The vessels are Kamsarmax-type bulk carriers with a capacity of 82,000 DWT. They were built to the highest and most modern specifications in terms of naval architecture, safety, and marine environmental protection.
In his speech, the owner of W MARINE, Yiannis Sarantitis, thanked the shipyard’s management and workforce for their flawless cooperation and the high quality of construction. He noted that the addition of these two vessels marks a significant milestone for the company, as it expands its managed fleet with newbuilds capable of delivering top-tier, reliable services in maritime transport.
For his part, the President of the shipyard, Zhang Xinlong, expressed his deep satisfaction with the successful completion of the project, highlighting the mutual respect and trust that define their partnership with W MARINE.
The vessels were christened by Mr. Yiannis Sarantitis’ wife, Malvina, and his daughter, Mary, receiving the names W-MALVINA and W-MARY.
The company’s shipbuilding program continues, with two container ships (1,800 TEU) expected in 2028 from Huang Hai Shipbuilding, as well as three Ultramax bulk carriers (64,500 DWT) from Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry.
