HSSEQ Superintendent

W-Marine Inc. based in Athens, currently operating a fleet of 16 dry bulk carriers, is seeking to employ a HSSEQ Superintendent.

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Daily follow-up of HSSEQ issues, electronic filing and ERP updates.
– Monitor, record and follow-up monthly reports (Safety Committee Meetings, Drills, Trainings, Master’s Review etc.)
– Arrange and conduct internal audits, prepare the audit reports and follow-up the findings until close-out.
– Prepare vessels for 3 rd party inspections (RightShip, PSC etc.) and follow-up the findings until close-out.
– Participate in the investigation process of Incident / Accident / Near Miss investigations.
– Participate in the review and continuous improvement of the SMS.
– Attend vessels for audits and 3 rd party inspections to verify personnel’s familiarity and level of compliance with the SMS and RightShip’s standards / practices.
– Actively promote safe working practices, cultivating a culture of open reporting and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization
– Identify personnel training needs and provide such training, as applicable.
– Evaluate personnel serving on board.

Skills and Qualifications:

– Seagoing experience as a deck officer
– Minimum 3 years of experience at a similar position in a shipping company managing bulk carriers
– Experience in handling Flag, PSC, RightShip and other 3 rd party inspections (experience in DryBMS is a plus)
– Excellent organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail
– Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and interact efficiently with shore/ship personnel and third parties
– Excellent written and oral communication skills both in Greek and English
– Computer literacy (experience in Benefit ERP platform is a plus)
